Perhaps this isn’t even a question for you, and I hope that’s the case. I hope you’re already working on yourself. Learning, self-reflecting, reading, improving.
But if you’re not, I don’t think you’re going to make the change you seek to make, at least if your vision is big enough.
If your vision is to make change by supporting new mothers with a small community at your local library, that’s fine. You’re probably already fairly well equipped to make that happen. However, if your vision is bigger, you might struggle. If you want to develop a product to replace disposables in restaurants, to create entrepreneurs in developing countries, to start a nonprofit that can eliminate homelessness, you’re probably not the person for it
Yet.
Don’t get me wrong, you’re perfectly equipped to start! The person that you are now is the perfect person for the job. But to make your full vision a reality, likely you need to do immense development on yourself to become the type of person who can lead a movement like that.
That is why personal development is key. To make your vision a reality you will need to do a lot. You’ll likely need to learn a lot about organizing, budgeting, financing, regulation, leadership, hiring and and and… You’ll also need to become the person who has the capacity to do those things, who has the resilience.
There are so many ways we can improve ourselves, and it is critical in order for you to build your project. So, don’t just go about this thinking, “I have to learn tasks and skills”.
Question yourself instead: what kind of person do I have to become in order to get there?
